1. Diagnose the Problem
In 2-3 sentences, explain what is wrong or unclear about the original question (e.g., too broad, solution-focused, not measurable).
2. Rewrite as Sharp Research Questions
Generate 4-6 specific, actionable research questions that:
- Are open-ended and non-leading
- Are tied to a specific behavior, task, or decision
- Can be answered within the timeline given
- Are clearly scoped (not "do users like X?" but "what steps do users take when X fails?")
3. Map Questions to Methods
For each question, recommend the single best method to answer it (e.g., usability test, diary study, survey, contextual inquiry) and explain why in one sentence.
4. Flag Out-of-Scope Questions
If any part of the original question would require a separate study or more resources, flag it clearly so I can manage stakeholder expectations.
5. Suggested Prioritization
Rank the questions by importance given the constraints I have shared.
